Make an AI Hug Video From One Photo or Two, No Prompt Needed
An AI hug video turns a still photo of two people into a short clip where they turn to each other and share a hug. In the Ginly AI app you make it from one photo of both people, or from two separate photos placed side by side, without writing a prompt. For a wilder version, The Tiger Touch gives you an AI tiger hug from a photo of just you.
- In the app: Hug
- Available on: iPhone, iPad and Android
What happens in the video
The Hug preview opens on a man and a woman standing side by side in a sunny park, both smiling at the camera. They turn their heads toward each other, then turn fully face to face. They reach for each other, step in and wrap their arms around one another. In the final frames they hold a close hug: her arms rest over his shoulders and her smiling face peeks over his shoulder toward the camera, while the trees and path behind them stay softly blurred. Your clip starts from your own photo, so the people, clothes and setting will be yours.
What is the AI hug trend?
The AI hug trend takes a still photo of two people and turns it into a short clip where they move toward each other and embrace. Couples use it on anniversary pictures, friends on photos from a trip, and families on snapshots of people who live far apart, since two separate photos can stand in for a picture that was never taken. Some people make AI hugging videos from an old photo of a relative who has died; if that is you, go gently, and keep the clip within the family if that feels right. Many tutorials start with writing a prompt for a general AI tool. In Ginly AI the hug is already built into the Hug effect, so you only choose the photo. If the hug you have in mind is with the child you once were, see the AI younger self page.
How to make it with Ginly AI
- Open Ginly AI, go to the Effects tab, tap Hug Effects and choose Hug. For the tiger version, open Animal & Nature Effects and choose The Tiger Touch instead.
- Keep Single Photo (the default) if both people are already in one picture, or switch to 2 separate photos to add one photo of each person; the app sets them side by side in one image.
- Take a photo or pick one from your gallery, crop it so both faces are clear, then tap Generate.
- The video appears in your Library, and the app can notify you when it's ready. Tap Download to save the MP4 to your phone, or Share to send it on.
Tips for the best result
- For Single Photo, start from a picture that looks like the preview: two people side by side, waist-up or full-length, with a little space between them and both facing the camera.
- Make sure neither person is cut off at the edge of the frame or half hidden behind the other; during the hug both bodies turn and arms reach across, so each person should be clearly in the shot from the chest up at least.
- With 2 separate photos, choose two shots taken from a similar distance and in similar light, one person in each. The app scales them to the same height, so a face close-up next to a full-length shot can look mismatched.
- Leave faces uncovered, with no sunglasses, masks or hands in front of them, because the two faces come close together as the hug closes.
- For The Tiger Touch, use a photo of one person with some sky or background showing above the shoulders; that is where the tiger rises up before it wraps its paws around you.

Ideas to try
- A long-distance AI couple video: put your selfie and your partner's selfie side by side with 2 separate photos and send the hug on your anniversary.
- Best friends: turn a photo from a trip or a graduation into a hug for your friend's birthday, and ask them before it goes on your public profile.
- Just you: run a solo photo through The Tiger Touch for a playful clip of a tiger hugging you from behind, and mention it's AI-made when you post it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make an AI hug video?
Open the Ginly AI app, go to Hug Effects and choose Hug. Add one photo of both people, or switch to 2 separate photos and add one of each, then tap Generate. There's no prompt to write, because the hug is already built into the effect, and the finished clip lands in your Library to download or share.
Which app makes the AI hug video?
Ginly AI makes it on iPhone, iPad and Android: get it from the App Store for iPhone and iPad or from Google Play for Android. When the clip is ready, you can save it to your phone or share it to TikTok or any other app from the share sheet.
Is the AI hug video free?
Ginly AI is free to download, and you can start as a guest with no sign-up. New users may get free starter credits and a daily credit gift may be available, so you can try the Hug effect. Every video uses credits, and beyond those, credits come with weekly subscription plans. Offers can change.
Can I make an AI hug video from two separate photos?
Yes. Hug accepts 2 separate photos: add one picture of each person, and the app scales both to the same height and joins them side by side in one image before the AI animates the hug. Two photos is the maximum. The guide on how to make an AI video from two photos has more photo tips.
Can I use someone else's photo?
Only if you have the right to use it and the person agrees. A hug puts two people in a close moment, so ask first, never use the clip to embarrass or deceive anyone, and label it as AI when you post it. Photos of children should only be used by their parent or guardian, and never to show a child hugging a stranger.
Why was my photo rejected?
The third-party AI services that create the video run automated content filters, and these can reject some photos, for example ones showing nudity. If a video fails, the Library shows a button to request your credits back (limits apply).
