What Revive is, and why people look for alternatives

Revive: AI Face Photo Animator is made by RefaceAI Limited. It is free to download on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android, with in-app purchases: the App Store lists a weekly Revive PRO subscription, a lifetime access option and avatar packs. Its Google Play description covers AI hug and kiss videos, photo dances, effects such as mermaid and warrior looks, photos that speak or sing, Christmas, Halloween and Easter collections, and AI avatars and headshots.

Searches such as ‘apps like Revive free’, ‘Revive app alternative’ and ‘Revive similar app’ point to three needs: a different library of effects, a way to try an app before paying, or a different pricing model. Revive also has strengths Ginly AI lacks, which we list in the Ginly AI entry below.

Ginly AI is not affiliated with Revive or its developer, RefaceAI Limited, and is not endorsed by them. App names belong to their owners.

How we compared

We read each app's official App Store (US) and Google Play listings on October 1, 2026, and every fact about another app links to one of them. We compared what each app makes, template or prompt, platforms, pricing model and who it suits. Platforms are the devices each App Store listing names under Compatibility, plus Google Play. Prices vary by region and change often, so we describe pricing models, not prices; check each listing before you subscribe.

6 apps like Revive, one by one

1. Ginly AI: 100+ ready-made effects, no prompt

Ginly AI turns a photo into a short AI video using ready-made effect templates. We list it first because we make it, and because its library overlaps with Revive's on hugs, dances, mermaid looks and holiday effects. Each template carries its own instructions, so there is nothing to type.

  • Revive-style effects: AI hug video, AI dance video, animate old photos, AI younger self, AI aging video and AI mermaid video, plus Halloween AI trend and AI Christmas video collections.
  • Platforms: iPhone and iPad (iOS 13 or later per the App Store listing) and Android 7.0 or later. Videos are created in the cloud by third-party AI services, so you need an internet connection. There is no web version; you make videos only in the mobile app.
  • Pricing model: free to download, and creating a video uses credits. Credits come with weekly subscription plans (Plus, Pro and Ultra), and subscribers can top up with credit packs. New users may get free starter credits, and a daily credit gift may be available. Offers can change.
  • Good to know: guest mode works without an account, the interface is available in 11 languages, and if a video fails you can request a credit refund from the Library (limits apply). The AI providers' content filters may reject some photos.
  • Where Revive is stronger: Ginly AI does not make photos speak or sing, has no AI avatars or headshots, and has no lifetime purchase: credits come with weekly plans. It has no kiss effects on Android, and we don't feature kiss effects on this site.
  • Best for: hug, dance, old-photo and trend videos from one photo on iPhone or Android, without writing a prompt.

2. Glam AI: beauty, fashion and selfie styles

Glam AI: Video & Photo Editor from Glam Labs, Inc. is a photo and video editor built around AI effects. Its Google Play description lists 400+ filters and effects, AI styles, 10 results from one photo, image to video, an AI clothes changer, a beauty and body editor, and headshots. Ginly AI is not affiliated with Glam AI or its developer.

  • Platforms: iPhone, iPad and Android.
  • Pricing model: Glam Pro, Glam Lite and Glam Artist subscriptions plus Magic packs, per its App Store in-app purchase list.
  • Where it is stronger: a bigger library by its own count, beauty and fashion tools, and photo results as well as videos. Its Play description also says new effects arrive 3–4 times a week.
  • Limitations: video effects are one part of a broader photo and beauty editor.
  • Best for: trend-driven selfie styles and beauty or fashion looks, with some video effects.

3. Hula AI: playful selfie videos and stickers

Hula AI: Trend Video Generator is made by Prequel Inc. and is also on Google Play. Its store description covers AI avatars, photo-to-video effects, video remixes, sticker packs made from a selfie, and cartoon and time-travel styles. Ginly AI is not affiliated with Hula AI or its developer.

  • Platforms: iPhone and Android.
  • Pricing model: Hula Premium weekly or yearly subscriptions plus creation packs and coins, per its App Store in-app purchase list.
  • Where it is stronger: selfie stickers, avatars and video remixes, none of which Ginly AI makes.
  • Limitations: its store description highlights avatars, remixes and stickers rather than hug or old-photo effects, so check the app if those are what you liked in Revive.
  • Best for: playful selfie-to-video styles and stickers.

4. Boom AI: hug-focused video clips

Boom AI: AI Video Generator is published by NineG and is also on Google Play. Its Play description centers on hug and kiss videos and also lists walking scenes, explosions and prompt-based generation from text. Ginly AI is not affiliated with Boom AI or its developer.

  • Platforms: iPhone and Android.
  • Pricing model: weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions plus coin packages, per its App Store in-app purchase list.
  • Where it is stronger: a prompt option if you'd rather describe a scene in your own words.
  • Limitations: the App Store lists English only, and at our check the iPhone version was last updated on February 19, 2026 (the Android version on September 2, 2026).
  • Best for: simple hug clips on iPhone or Android.

5. Momo: photo styles plus dance videos

Momo: AI Photo & Video Maker comes from ScaleUp and is also on Google Play. Its Play description lists AI dance videos, a viral video creator, selfie retakes, a hairstyle changer, an aging filter and an upscaler, across hundreds of styles. Ginly AI is not affiliated with Momo or its developer.

  • Platforms: iPhone and Android.
  • Pricing model: weekly or yearly subscriptions plus coin packs, per its App Store in-app purchase list.
  • Where it is stronger: AI photo tools such as selfie retakes, hairstyles and upscaling, which Ginly AI does not have, and a prompt option alongside its styles.
  • Limitations: photo styles are the focus, and video is one feature set among several.
  • Best for: AI portrait styles with some trending video effects.

6. Pose: no-prompt trend photos and videos

Pose: AI Photo Video Generator from Spark Dynamics offers trend filters that work from one photo without a prompt, according to its App Store description. The same developer lists it on Google Play as Pose: AI Video Maker, AI Photo. Its themes include stadium fan cams, birthday photo shoots, polaroid and old-money looks, magazine covers and headshots. Ginly AI is not affiliated with Pose or its developer.

  • Platforms: iPhone and Android.
  • Pricing model: tiered subscriptions from Basic to Elite plus starter packages, per its App Store in-app purchase list; some tiers are listed with a trial.
  • Where it is stronger: it makes trend photos as well as videos.
  • Overlap with Ginly AI: similar themes to our AI stadium video and AI birthday video effects.
  • Good to know: the Android name differs from the iPhone one, and other apps use similar names, so check that the developer is Spark Dynamics before you install.
  • Best for: viral trend photos and videos without typing a prompt, on iPhone or Android.

Which app for which job

  • Hug videos: Ginly AI's AI hug video effects (the Hug effect takes one photo of two people, or two separate photos) or Boom AI. More in our best AI hug app roundup and AI love and family videos.
  • Dancing photos: Ginly AI's AI dance video effects, or Momo.
  • Old family photos: with Ginly AI's animate old photos effects, people in an old photo smile and wave, or a sepia photo gains color and gentle motion; the photo is animated, not repaired.
  • Mermaid and other transformations: Ginly AI's AI transformation videos.
  • Beauty, fashion and selfie styles: Glam AI.
  • Selfie stickers and remixes: Hula AI.
  • Viral trend looks: Pose or Ginly AI, both with no prompt, on iPhone and Android.
  • Photos that speak or sing: not Ginly AI; see the section below.

How to make Revive-style videos in Ginly AI

  1. Download Ginly AI for iPhone, iPad or Android, then sign in or tap Continue as Guest.
  2. Open the Effects tab, browse a category or search all effects, and pick a template such as Hug, Scuba or Old Photo Revival.
  3. Add one photo from your camera or gallery and crop it. Duo effects such as Hug also accept two separate photos, which the app places side by side in one image; our guide on how to make an AI video from two photos explains how.
  4. Tap Generate. Credits are deducted, the video appears in your Library, and the app can notify you when it's ready; download it as an MP4 or share it.

If you used Revive to make photos speak or sing

Ginly AI doesn't do this: it makes short effect videos and does not add voices or make a face speak. An app built around that feature is a closer match, for example DreamFace, whose Google Play description centers on avatars that speak from a single photo, pet videos that talk or sing, and voice tools. Its iPhone availability was unclear when we checked. Ginly AI is not affiliated with DreamFace or its developer.

Use any of these apps responsibly

Use photos you have the right to use, and get permission before using someone else's photo. These videos are AI-generated: label them as AI when you post, never present them as real events, and never use them to deceive, harass, embarrass or impersonate anyone. Ginly AI, made by MIND MONS BİLİŞİM TEKNOLOJİLERİ SANAYİ VE TİCARET A.Ş. in Ankara, Türkiye, is for users 18 and over.

Try it yourself — pick an effect, add a photo and Ginly AI creates the video.
