How to Make an AI Video From Two Photos: Free to Try, No Prompt
Here is how to make an AI video from two photos: in the Ginly AI app, pick an effect that offers “2 separate photos”, add one picture of each person and tap Generate. The app places both photos side by side in one image, and the AI turns that image into one short video of the two people together, such as a hug or a kung-fu duel. There is no prompt to write, it works on iPhone, iPad and Android, and it is free to try.

Short answer: two photos in, one AI video out
Ginly AI turns a photo into a short AI video using ready-made effect templates, and some of its effects accept two photos instead of one. On one of those effects, switch the photo option from “Single Photo” to “2 separate photos”, add a picture of each person and tap Generate. The app scales both photos to the same height and places them side by side in one image; if that image is wider than a 16:9 frame, the app trims its outer edges to fit. That single combined image goes to the AI, which turns it into one short video of both people. You get a moving clip, not a merged still picture, and you can never add more than two photos.
At a glance: up to two photos per video · both are joined side by side into one image · you get one short AI video (about 5 seconds long for the two-photo effects below) · no prompt to write · iPhone, iPad and Android · free to download, and each video uses credits.
Which Ginly AI effects take two photos

How to make an AI video from two photos in 4 steps
Before you start, download Ginly AI on an iPhone or iPad (iOS 13 or later per the App Store listing) or an Android device (Android 7.0 or later). You need an internet connection, because the videos are made in the cloud by third-party AI services. Tick the Terms and Privacy box, then sign in with Google, Apple (iPhone and iPad only) or email, or tap Continue as Guest. No sign-up needed.
- Pick a two-photo effect. On the Effects tab, open a category such as Hug Effects, or search the All effects screen for Hug, Classic Hug, Meet Our Kid, Kungfu Club or Money Tornado. The effect screen shows the preview video, the photo slot and the Generate button.
- Choose “2 separate photos”. Two-photo effects start on “Single Photo”. Tap “2 separate photos” to get one photo slot for each person.
- Add and crop both photos. For each slot, take a picture with the camera or choose one from your gallery, then crop it with free crop or a preset. Use the mirror flip if a selfie came out reversed. The app then scales both photos to the same height and joins them side by side into one image.
- Tap Generate, then save or share. Credits are deducted and the app opens your Library, where the new video shows as “creating”. If notifications are on, the app tells you when it is ready. Open the video to play it, tap Download to save an MP4 to your phone's gallery, or tap Share to send it from your phone's share sheet.
Already have one photo with both people in it? Keep “Single Photo” and use that picture: the two-photo effects also accept a single photo of a pair.

Photo tips for a better two-photo AI video
- One person per photo, face clearly visible. Pick photos where each face is sharp and not hidden by sunglasses, hands or hair. The AI works from one combined image, so both faces need to be clear.
- Use the same kind of shot. Pair two head-and-shoulders photos or two half-body photos. Both photos are scaled to the same height, so a close-up next to a full-length photo makes one person look much bigger than the other.
- Leave space at the outer edges. If the joined image is wider than 16:9, as it is with two square crops, the app trims the far left and far right, so keep each person away from the outer edge of their photo. Cropping both photos the same way keeps the pair balanced.
- Match the light. Two photos with similar light and colour look more natural side by side than a bright photo next to a dark one.
Two-photo AI video ideas
An AI couple video from two separate photos
Partners, friends or family members who are in different pictures can share one hug. Hug's preview shows two people in a sunny park turning to each other for a warm hug, while Classic Hug's starts with two people side by side in different places before they come together. Both accept “2 separate photos”. Watch the Hug preview on the AI hug video page, find more couple and family effects in AI love videos, and see how hug apps compare in our best AI hug apps list.
Your childhood photo and a photo of you today
For the hug-your-younger-self trend, open Classic Hug, choose “2 separate photos” and add your own childhood photo next to a recent one. Classic Hug's preview shows two adults, so results with a childhood photo can differ from it, and the AI services' content filters may reject some photos of children. Only ever use a childhood photo of yourself. The AI younger self page shows the Classic Hug preview, and the one-photo section below covers a version that needs no childhood photo at all.
A friendly kung-fu duel between two friends
Kungfu Club turns two portraits into a stylised martial-arts face-off in a park that ends in an energy blast between their hands. It is comic choreography, not a real fight, and it suits two adult friends who both said yes. Find it on the AI fight video page, along with more funny AI videos to share with friends.
A couple's AI-imagined child
Meet Our Kid shows a couple's cheek-to-cheek selfie joined by a laughing toddler. Add one photo of each partner (adults' photos only): the child in the video is created by the AI for fun and is not a genetic estimate of a real child. The AI baby generator page has the previews. It is different from the baby face filter, which gives one person a softer, younger-looking face and doesn't add a child.
Two friends in a money tornado
In Money Tornado's preview, banknotes swirl and rain around a smiling man on a city street. The effect offers “2 separate photos” too, but its preview shows one person, so results with two people can vary. Treat it as a fun fantasy shot, not a statement about anyone's money. See the money rain effect page and the luxury lifestyle AI category for similar scenes.
A gentle moment with someone you miss
Some people pair a recent photo of themselves with a photo of a relative who has passed away and use a hug effect. If you do, choose a photo your family is comfortable with, and be gentle with yourself. The video is imagined by the AI and may not look exactly like the person you remember. To bring a single old family photo to life instead, see animate old photos.
Only have one photo?
Several one-photo effects still put a second figure on screen. In the AI aging video effect, an older version of you walks in and you pose together; your own face isn't aged in place. On the AI younger self page, Meet Younger Me brings a younger you into the scene beside you, so you don't need a childhood photo. For more single-photo ideas, read how to turn a photo into a video, browse AI video ideas or see all AI video effects.

Why use an effect instead of a prompt?
Many online guides to two-person AI videos use two tools: a general-purpose AI chatbot, where you describe in a prompt how to merge two photos into one picture, and then a separate video generator to animate that picture. Ginly AI does it in one place. Each effect already contains its own instructions, so there is no prompt to write: you pick the effect and add your photos. The trade-off is control. You can't edit those instructions, combine effects or use a video as the input, so you choose from the 100+ effects the app offers. And if you want a merged still image rather than a video, Ginly AI isn't the right tool, because it only makes videos.
Use two photos responsibly
- Ask first. Use only photos you have the right to use, and get permission from the other person before you put them in a video, especially in a hug or couple effect.
- Never deceive. Never use Ginly AI to deceive, harass, embarrass or impersonate anyone, and don't pair yourself with a stranger, an ex or a celebrity.
- Adults only. Ginly AI is for users 18 and over. Only a parent or legal guardian should use a photo of a child, never with a stranger and never in couple or fight effects. In Meet Our Kid, upload adults' photos only.
- Label it as AI. When you post the video, say it was made with AI, and never present it as a real event.
If your two-photo video doesn't turn out right
- The video failed. The AI services' automated content filters may reject some photos (for example, nudity). A failed video shows a credit-refund button in your Library (limits apply).
- One person looks much bigger. Re-crop so both photos show the same kind of shot, such as two head-and-shoulders photos.
- Someone is cut off at the side. Re-crop with each person in the middle of their photo and some space around them.
- The faces don't look quite right. Results vary with the photos and are imagined by the AI. Sharp, well-lit photos with clearly visible faces give it more to work with.
- You're offline. Videos are made in the cloud, so you need an internet connection to create one.
Price, platforms and your photos
Ginly AI is free to download. Creating a video uses credits. Credits come with weekly subscription plans, and subscribers can top up with credit packs. New users may get free starter credits and a daily credit gift may be available — offers can change. Ginly AI is available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store and for Android on Google Play; there is no website version, so videos are made only in the app.
To create your video, the photos you choose are processed by third-party AI services (Fal.ai and PixVerse, as listed in our Privacy Policy). You can delete your account in the app or ask us by email at [email protected].
Try it yourself — pick an effect, add a photo and Ginly AI creates the video.
Frequently asked questions
How to make an AI video from 2 photos?
Use an effect that accepts two photos. In the Ginly AI app, open a two-photo effect such as Hug, Classic Hug, Meet Our Kid, Kungfu Club or Money Tornado, switch from “Single Photo” to “2 separate photos”, add and crop a picture of each person, and tap Generate. The app joins both photos side by side into one image, and the AI turns it into one short video. No prompt is needed.
What app makes an AI video from two photos?
Ginly AI, an app for iPhone, iPad and Android, has effects that accept two separate photos and turn them into one short AI video, such as a hug, a kung-fu duel or a couple joined by an AI-created toddler. It is free to download and creating a video uses credits; new users may get free starter credits (offers can change). You can start as a guest without signing up.
How to make an AI video of two people hugging?
Open Hug or Classic Hug in the Hug Effects category of Ginly AI. If the two people are in different photos, choose “2 separate photos” and add one picture of each; if you already have a photo of them together, keep “Single Photo”. Tap Generate and the AI creates a short video in which the two come together in a hug. Only use photos of people who agreed to it.
Can I use more than two photos?
No. Every effect works with one photo, and the effects that offer “2 separate photos” take two, never more. The app combines those two into one image before the AI sees it. Ginly AI doesn't make videos from three or more photos or slideshows; for a slideshow of many pictures, use a video editing app.
How to combine photos and make a video?
It depends on the result you want. To string several photos together into a slideshow, use a video editing app. To put two people from two photos into one AI-generated scene, use a two-photo effect in Ginly AI: the app places both photos side by side in one image and the AI turns it into a short video, such as a hug. Ginly AI doesn't make slideshows or merged still images.
Do I need a prompt to make an AI couple video?
No. Each Ginly AI effect already contains its own instructions, so there is nothing to type: you choose an effect, such as Hug, and add your photos. The flip side is that you can't edit those instructions or combine effects. If you were looking for an AI couple video prompt to paste into a chatbot, a two-photo effect gives you a video without one.
