Best Photo to Video AI Apps: 8 Picks Compared

The best photo to video AI app for you depends on how you want to create: pick a ready-made effect and add one photo, or write prompts and fine-tune the result. We compared eight apps for iPhone and Android, including Ginly AI (ours), Kling AI, Revive and Pose, on platforms, how you create, pricing model and what each one does best.

We make Ginly AI, so we list it first. Facts about the other apps come from their official App Store and Google Play listings (plus Kling AI's official site for its web version), checked on October 1, 2026 and linked in each app's section, and we say where they are stronger. We compared their listings; we did not test the other apps ourselves. Ginly AI is not affiliated with any other app on this page or its developer.

1. Ginly AI: best for one-photo effect videos with no prompt

Ginly AI turns a photo into a short AI video using ready-made effect templates. You pick an effect, add one photo from your camera or gallery, crop it and tap Generate; a few duo effects also accept two separate photos. You never type a prompt, because every template carries its own instructions. Videos are made in the cloud by third-party AI services listed in our Privacy Policy, so you need an internet connection. Ginly AI is made by MIND MONS BİLİŞİM TEKNOLOJİLERİ SANAYİ VE TİCARET A.Ş. in Ankara, Türkiye.

  • Platforms: iPhone and iPad (iOS 13 or later, per the App Store listing) and Android 7.0 or later. No web or desktop version.
  • Account: optional. Continue as a guest, or sign in with Google, email or (on iPhone and iPad) Apple.
  • Pricing model: free to download. Creating a video uses credits. Credits come with weekly subscription plans, and subscribers can top up with credit packs. New users may get free starter credits and a daily credit gift may be available — offers can change.
  • Output: a short video, a few seconds long, that you can save to your gallery as an MP4 or share. If a video fails, you can request a credit refund (limits apply).
  • Effects: hugs, old-photo animation, dance, stadium fan cam, Earth zoom, 3D figurine, Halloween looks and more, with new templates added from time to time.
  • Languages: the interface is available in 11 languages.

Where it falls short: clips are short and can't be extended, and you can't describe your own scene, edit an effect or combine effects; a prompt-first app such as Kling AI gives you more control. It takes photos only, doesn't make photos speak or sing, and has no trimming or caption tools. Results vary with the photo, the AI providers' content filters reject some photos, and videos are for personal, non-commercial use under our Terms.

2. Kling AI: best for prompt control and longer clips

Kling AI, from KLING AI PTE. LTD., makes videos from text or images and also generates images, using Kling's own foundation model. Its Google Play listing describes clips of up to 15 seconds, a Video Extension feature that reaches 3 minutes, high-resolution output and a community feed where “Clone & Try” lets you reuse another creator's idea with a single click.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone, iPad and Android, plus a web version. Credit packs, Standard, Pro and Premier monthly plans, and weekly membership items (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: you direct the scene with your own prompt, clips run longer, and you can also work on the web.
  • Limitations: its store listing focuses on creating from text and images rather than on ready-made effects, so you do more of the directing yourself.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Kling AI or its developer. See also our Kling AI alternative page.

3. Revive: best for hug, dance and holiday animations

Revive is made by RefaceAI Limited. Its Google Play listing describes a photo animator with AI hug and kiss videos, photo dance, effects such as mermaid and warrior, a gender-swap filter, photos that sing or talk, Christmas, Halloween and Easter collections, and AI avatars and headshots.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone and Android. A weekly PRO subscription, a lifetime access option and avatar packs (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: photos that sing or talk, AI avatars and headshots, and a lifetime purchase option.
  • Limitations: both store listings showed a last update of July 1, 2026 when we checked, and the iPhone app needs iOS 17 or later.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Revive or its developer. More options: apps like Revive.

4. Pose: best for trend photos and videos without a prompt

Pose, from Spark Dynamics, offers trend filters such as baby dance, stadium fan cam, polaroid, birthday photoshoot, luxury looks, magazine covers and headshots, all from one photo with no prompt, according to its App Store description. On Google Play, the same developer lists it as “Pose: AI Video Maker, AI Photo”.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone and Android. Tiered subscriptions (Basic, Standard, Gold and Elite), some listed with a trial, plus starter packages (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: it had the most US App Store ratings of any app here when we checked, and it makes photo looks such as polaroids and magazine covers too.
  • Limitations: the iPhone app needs iOS 16 or later, and the app has a different name on each store, so check the developer before you install.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Pose or its developer.

5. Hula AI: best for playful selfie videos and stickers

Hula AI is made by Prequel Inc., the developer of the Prequel photo and video editor. Its store description covers AI avatars, photo-to-video effects, video remixes, sticker packs from a single selfie, and cartoon and time-travel styles. It's also on Google Play.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone and Android. Weekly and yearly Premium subscriptions plus creation packs and coins (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: sticker packs and avatars from a selfie, which Ginly AI doesn't make.
  • Limitations: video effects are one part of a broader toolkit of avatars, remixes and stickers.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Hula AI or its developer. More options: Hula AI alternative.

6. Glam AI: best for beauty and fashion looks

Glam AI, from Glam Labs, Inc., pairs an AI photo and video generator with a beauty and fashion editor. Its Google Play listing mentions 400+ filters and effects, 10 AI image results from one photo, image to video, an AI clothes changer, beauty and body editing, and updates “3-4 times a week”. It's also on the App Store.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone, iPad and Android. Glam Pro, Glam Lite and Glam Artist subscriptions plus “Magic” packs (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: a larger filter and effect library, several image results per upload, beauty and body editing, and an AI clothes changer.
  • Limitations: it's positioned as a photo and video editor with beauty tools, so video effects are one part of it, and it needs iOS 17 or later on iPhone and iPad.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Glam AI or its developer. More options: apps like Glam AI.

7. Momo: best for AI portrait styles with trend videos

Momo, from ScaleUp, makes AI photos and videos from your photos. Its Google Play listing names AI dance videos, a viral video creator, selfie retakes, a hairstyle changer, an aging filter and an upscaler. It's also on the App Store.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone and Android. Weekly and yearly subscriptions plus coin packs (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: photo tools that Ginly AI doesn't have, such as selfie retakes and an upscaler.
  • Limitations: most of the styles and tools its listing names are for photos, such as portraits, headshots and hairstyles; video is one feature set among several.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Momo or its developer.

8. Boom AI: best for simple hug and kiss clips

Boom AI, published by NineG, is positioned as a hug and kiss video generator. Its Google Play listing also mentions walking scenes, explosive action scenes and making a video from a written description. It's also on the App Store.

  • Platforms and pricing: iPhone and Android. Weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions plus coin packages (App Store in-app purchases).
  • Where it's stronger than Ginly AI: you can start from a written description as well as from an effect.
  • Limitations: the iOS app showed a last update of February 19, 2026 when we checked.
  • Note: Ginly AI is not affiliated with Boom AI or its developer.

How to choose a photo to video AI app

  1. Template or prompt? For a known look with nothing to write, choose a template app such as Ginly AI, Revive, Pose or Hula AI. To direct the scene yourself, choose a prompt-first app such as Kling AI.
  2. iPhone, iPad or Android? All eight apps have official iPhone and Android versions, but only Ginly AI, Kling AI and Glam AI list iPad on the App Store. Check the minimum system version too: Revive and Glam AI need iOS 17 or later and Pose needs iOS 16 or later, while Ginly AI runs on iOS 13 or later and Android 7.0 or later.
  3. How you pay. Most apps here combine a subscription with credits, coins or packs. Read the in-app purchase list before you subscribe; you cancel in App Store or Google Play settings.
  4. One person or two? For two people in one clip, Ginly AI's duo effects accept two separate photos; see how to make an AI video from two photos.
  5. Your photo and your rights. Read the privacy policy and terms. In Ginly AI, the photo you choose is processed by third-party AI services named in our Privacy Policy, and our Terms grant a personal, non-commercial license.

How we compared these apps

  • We read each app's official App Store and Google Play listings on October 1, 2026 (plus Kling AI's official site for its web version) and link them in each app's section.
  • Platforms and minimum iOS versions come from each App Store listing's compatibility section, so iPad appears only where the listing names it.
  • We compared listings and didn't run the same photo through every app, so we make no output-quality claims.
  • We describe pricing models, not prices, because prices vary by country and change often.
  • We left out web-only tools, because this page is about phone apps, and apps from companies that supply AI technology to Ginly AI, to avoid a conflict of interest.
  • After Ginly AI, the order is not a ranking; match apps by their “best for” lines.
  • Spotted something out of date? Email [email protected] and we'll correct it.

More comparisons and guides

Comparing Ginly AI with one app? Read apps like Revive, apps like Glam AI, Kling AI alternative, Hula AI alternative or DreamFace alternative. DreamFace isn't listed above because its Google Play listing leads with speaking avatars made from a photo, plus voice tools, a different focus from effect templates. Ginly AI is not affiliated with DreamFace or its developer. For single effects, see best AI hug apps, AI trend videos or AI video ideas.

Use photos you have the right to use, and get permission before using someone else's photo. Never use any of these apps to deceive, harass, embarrass or impersonate anyone, and label AI videos as AI when you post them. Ginly AI is for users 18 and over.

Try it yourself — pick an effect, add a photo and Ginly AI creates the video.

Frequently asked questions

What app turns photos into videos?

Several apps do. Ginly AI, our app, turns one photo into a short AI video with 100+ ready-made effect templates and no prompt, on iPhone, iPad and Android. Other options include Kling AI for prompt-led clips, Revive for hug and dance animations, Pose for no-prompt trend photos and videos, and Hula AI, Glam AI, Momo and Boom AI. The comparison table on this page shows each app's platforms and pricing model.

Which app is best for AI video?

It depends on what you want to make. For one-photo effect videos with no prompt on iPhone and Android, we built Ginly AI. For prompt-led clips with more control and longer videos, Kling AI is a strong choice. For trend photos and videos such as polaroids and magazine covers, look at Pose, and for beauty and fashion looks, Glam AI. We make Ginly AI, so weigh our pick with that in mind.

What is the best photo to video AI app for iPhone and Android?

All eight apps on this page have official iPhone and Android versions, though names can differ between stores (Pose is “Pose: AI Video Maker, AI Photo” on Google Play). If you want the same no-prompt effect workflow on both platforms, Ginly AI is our pick: it runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 13 or later, per the App Store listing) and on Android 7.0 or later, and nearly all of its effects work on both. Install from the official store listing, because look-alike apps exist.

Is there a free photo to video AI app?

All eight apps on this page are free to download with in-app purchases, but making videos usually costs credits, coins or a subscription, so check each store listing for what's included. Ginly AI is free to try with no sign-up needed: continue as a guest, and new users may get free starter credits; a daily credit gift may also be available, though offers can change. After that, credits come with weekly subscription plans.

Do you need a prompt to turn a photo into a video with AI?

Not with a template app. In Ginly AI you pick an effect and add a photo; each template carries its own instructions, so there is nothing to write. Pose also advertises trends with no prompt. Prompt-first apps such as Kling AI let you describe the motion in your own words, which gives more control but takes more effort.

Are AI video apps safe?

Treat them like any app that handles your photos: install from the official App Store or Google Play listing, read the privacy policy and check the age rating. In Ginly AI, the photo you choose is processed by third-party AI services named in our Privacy Policy, and you can delete your account in the app or ask us by email. Use only photos you have the right to use, and never use AI videos to deceive or impersonate anyone.
