AI Rain Effect: Leap Into Golden Rain From One Photo
With the AI rain effect, a single still photo becomes a short clip in which rain begins to fall and you spring up with your arms flung wide. It is made in the Ginly AI app with the Rain of Redemption template, so there's no rain overlay to line up, no green screen and no prompt. The app generates a new video from your photo; it does not add rain to footage you already have.
- In the app: Rain of Redemption
- Available on: iPhone, iPad and Android
What happens in the video
The Rain of Redemption preview opens on a young woman with a copper bob and round glasses, sitting on outdoor steps beside a wicker basket with her chin in her hands. She wears a navy cardigan, rolled jeans, white socks and red flats. Rain streaks start to cross the frame; she drops her hands, smiling, then springs up with her arms flung wide. As the light turns a warm gold and the rain thickens, she tips her head back, arms still open. A second example follows: a couple in navy graduation caps and gowns by a lake spread their arms and laugh as the rain comes down.
How to make it with Ginly AI
- Download Ginly AI on iPhone, iPad or Android; you can skip creating an account and tap Continue as Guest.
- Go to the Effects tab, open Transformation Effects and choose Rain of Redemption, or type the name into the search on the All effects screen.
- Add one photo with your arms and some background around you, crop it loosely and tap Generate. The effect uses a single photo, so for two people in the rain, pick a picture of you together.
- Follow the clip to your Library; when it's done, play it, save it to your gallery with Download or share it from the result screen.
Tips for the best result
- Leave room above your head and on both sides: in the preview she stretches her arms out almost to the edges of the frame.
- A seated photo is fine. The woman in the preview starts on the steps with her chin in her hands and springs to her feet as the rain arrives.
- Keep your hands empty and visible rather than holding a phone, drink or umbrella, because the whole clip builds up to both arms opening wide.
- Outdoor daylight photos match both preview examples, one taken on stone steps and the other beside a lake with wooded hills.
- For a couple or a pair of friends, use one photo of you together, like the graduating couple in the preview; Rain of Redemption takes a single photo only, so it can't merge two separate pictures.
Ideas to try
- Graduation post: turn a cap-and-gown photo into a clip where the rain arrives and you throw your arms open, as the couple in the preview do. If a classmate is in the picture, ask before you post.
- Mark a fresh start, such as your last exam, a finished project or a move to a new city, with an arms-wide clip made from your own photo and captioned as AI-made.
- Build a two-part storm post with the lightning filter: crackling blue bolts in the first clip, warm golden rain and open arms in the second.
Frequently asked questions
Which app makes the AI rain effect video?
Ginly AI makes it on iPhone, iPad and Android, using the Rain of Redemption template in the Transformation Effects category. Typing the name into the search on the All effects screen also finds it. There is no website version: you make the video in the mobile app, and you can start as a guest.
How do I put an AI rain effect on a photo?
Pick Rain of Redemption in Ginly AI, add your photo and tap Generate. Instead of an edited still, you get a short video made from your photo, in which rain starts to fall while you rise and open your arms. How the rain and light look will differ a little from photo to photo. For more ways to bring stills to life, see how to turn a photo into a video.
Can I put the AI rain effect on a video I already have?
No. Ginly AI starts from a photo and generates a new clip, so it can't add rain to existing footage. It isn't a live camera filter either, and it doesn't supply rain overlays, PNG files or green-screen clips. Once your video is finished, you can download the MP4 from your Library and use it like any other clip.
Is the AI rain effect app free?
It's free to try. Ginly AI is a free download, new users may get welcome credits, and a daily credit gift may also be available. Making a rain video spends credits; once the free ones are used, credits come with weekly subscription plans, and subscribers can buy extra credit packs. These offers can change at any time.
Do I need a prompt for the AI rain effect?
No. Rain of Redemption carries its own built-in instructions, so there's no rain prompt to hunt for or paste anywhere, and the effect itself can't be edited. You choose it, add one photo and tap Generate. For a different look from the same photo, the disintegration effect turns you to dust instead.
Can I make the rain video with my partner or a friend?
Yes, if you have one photo of the two of you together and they're happy to appear in it. Never use someone's picture without permission, tag the post as AI-generated, and remember the app is meant for people aged 18 and up. The AI providers' content filters turn down some photos; if a video fails, its credits can be refunded from the Library, within limits.
